A Swoon-Worthy Spring Wedding at Haue Valley
Featured Wedding: Shelby and John
April 20th, 2018
Where It All Began
John and Shelby met in high school. When he was a senior and she was a sophomore, they both needed a date for the homecoming dance. Naturally, some friends decided to play match maker. They had never met each other before, but they went to the dance together anyway. Ever since that night almost nine years ago, they have been together ever since.
John went off to college to play basketball in Illinois, and they continued dating through long distance for five years of their relationship. They were able to make it work through the challenging five years, and their relationship became stronger because of it. They had a lot of people who doubted them, but they both knew that their love was strong. They wanted to be next to each other's sides forever.
"I just knew that John would be the man I married one day," Shelby said.
The Proposal
Shelby's favorite TV show is One Tree Hill. John had planned to fly her to Willimgton where the show was filmed and propose to her on the river court, which is an iconic place in the show. It turns out they demolished it a few years back. John had discussed it with Shelby's best friend and was able to come up with a different plan. He decided to propose to her at a spot in a near by town under a covered bridge. He told her this would be "their river court".
